The name means supreme or pronounced grand ultimate fist and although it could be used for combat, it is mainly used as a method of mental and physical relaxation.
Tai Chi is a Chinese form of calisthenics consisting of a series of movements performed slowly and deliberately for training both the body and the mind in balance, control, and coordination. According to Chinese Medical and Philosophical theory “Chi” is internal energy running through out all living things. It is believed that Tai Chi has been practiced for over 1,000 years.

Tai Chi is pronounced “tie chee” and is the essential core of Chinese meditation, medicine, and martial arts. First, people learn good posture and to relax. Then people practice a form, defined as an unbroken sequence of postures and movements consisting of over 100 movements and postures, which is the heart of the system. Tai Chi can be commonly found in many health and fitness clubs, place of work, and community centers. Practicing Tai Chi regularly improves strength, balance, flexibility, coordination, and to a smaller degree improves heart function and decrease blood pressure.
